Debut album by NY composer / producer marrying electronic textures with neoclassical musicality.

The pianist, composer, and producer Gideon Broshy who is known for building musical clouds and swarms from sharp figures, using improvisation, synthesis, and MIDI, announces his debut record, Nest, via New Amsterdam Records. Nest features TIGUE’s Matt Evans (drums), the Silk Road Ensemble's Mantawoman (dulcimer), Hub New Music's Gleb Kanasevich (clarinet), and Grammy-winner William Brittelle (production).
The 12 tracks on Nest were built through the gradual accretion of improvised and electronic material, assembled into emergent forms over a 3 year period. Broshy gathers harpsichords, synthesizers, celestas, dulcimers, and pianos and transmutes them into bright, angular assemblages while tracing the erratic contours of ordinary feeling, thought, and encounter.
“An ecology of gestures and objects, routes and relations, it’s attuned to the shape and mess of things, the oblique dynamism of the everyday: life feels angular, where inner experience meets the disorder of the social world, ” explains Broshy.
Nest is a tactile and spatial experience; precise and atmospheric, jagged and lyrical. Broshy’s unique approach to developing the material blurs the line between improvisation and composition, mechanical and human to create a sonic experience that holds large extremes close to each other.
